Seiko is a Japanese company which holds subsidiaries manufacturing and selling watches, clocks, electronic instruments, semiconductors, jewelleries and optical products. The company was founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori. He opened a watch and jewellery shop called “K. Hattori” in Tokyo. After eleven years he began to make clocks under the name Seikosha. The brand produced their first watches in 1924. Seiko launched the Astron in 1969, which was world’s first production quartz watch. It was costly when it came to the market. Later they introduced the first quartz chronograph. They made the first Kinetic watch in the late 1980s which amalgamated the self –energizing attributes of an automatic watch with quartz accuracy. Orient and Seiko established a joint factory in 1985. After modifying and creating its operating subsidiaries, it became a holding company in 2001 and was renamed as Seiko Holdings Corporation as of July 1, 2007.

Seiko is one of the best known wrist watch makers. They also produce items such as microgears, motors, hands, crystal oscillators, batteries, sensors, LCDs. Seiko produces watches with quartz, kinetic, solar and mechanical watches of varying prices. To divide the customer group, Seiko has made a number of various brands in Japan and the international market.

The brand contains several collections Dress, Permier, Vivace, Lord, Sportura and others.

The Dress collection contains men’s and women’s fashionable watches, which has digital and analogue display systems. They have rectangular and round shaped dials. These dials are coloured in black, white and golden. The stainless steel and gold plated straps give them a glamorous appearance. Their black and golden bezel protects them from heat. The steel body of the watches makes them tough, while their sapphire crystal glass gives them protection from getting scratches. The watches are water resistant within a distance of 100 meters.

The Permier collection contains men’s watches which have traditional appearance with round shaped black, white and silver dials. Features like perpetual calendar, analogue display and date display are present in these watches. Their stainless steel and leather straps make them sturdy. The sapphire crystal glass protects them from getting scratches. The quartz movement keeps accurate time.

The Vivace is a women’s collection of fashionable and attractive watches. These watches contain tonneau and round shaped dials coloured in pink. Their steel case complements with stainless steel straps which give them strength. Its mineral glass material protects it from getting scratches. They are water resistant within a distance of 30 meters.

The Prime – Duets – Fashion Watch Studio is the latest to the array of fashion watch stores. The prime concept behind this is to give assurance of originality, clarity and exclusivity to the customers. The watches offered here are priced at Rs. 3,000 and above.

The Exclusive Brand Boutique (Franchisee Boutique) concentrates on specific brand to attract the customer’s loyalty for that brand.
